Nantucket Nostalgia

One of the main reasons I love film photography (vs. digital) is because of the slight element of wistfulness it gives the viewer. There is an ever-so-subtle fade in a film photo...like you are looking at a picture from your memory you know holds so much to it. You can remember the sights and the sounds and the smells. You can feel it, almost.

There is a small island off the coast of Massachusetts called Nantucket. Founded as a whaling community in the 1700s, it has become a prime summer destination for many today. I am head over heels in love with Nantucket - I feel giddy when the plane or ferry starts nearing the island, I swoon over the soft sand and the blue, blue sea, and I blush at the quaintness of the town with its charming shops, delightful restaurants, and dancing bars.

So, here's my love letter to Nantucket, in pictures.

Dear Nantucket,

With all my love,

Julia Jane <3
